We take your family’s privacy seriously and follow the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

What stays on your device

If you use the free app without an account, learner names, buddy pictures, scores, stars and the parent PIN are stored only in your browser on your device. We do not receive them.

What we collect when you create an account

• Your email address and a securely hashed password (we cannot read your password).
• For Premium cloud sync: the learner names, buddy pictures, scores and stars you choose to sync.
• Subscription details: the plan, payment dates and the PayFast subscription reference. Card details are handled only by PayFast.

Why we use it

To run your account, provide Premium features, process payments, send password-reset emails and keep the service secure. We do not sell your information and we do not show advertising.

Who we share it with

Only the service providers needed to run Owlie Learn: Cloudflare (hosting and database), PayFast (payments) and our email sender. They may process data outside South Africa under appropriate safeguards.

Children

The service is for children but accounts are held by parents or guardians. We ask for no more than a first name or nickname for a learner. Please do not use a child’s full name, school or contact details.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your information, and you can delete your account yourself from your account page. For anything else, email [email protected]. You may also contact the Information Regulator of South Africa.

Cookies

We use one essential cookie to keep you logged in. We use no advertising or tracking cookies. The app stores progress in your browser’s local storage.
